What is ?

The word is an acronym of the expression "high integrity, close tolerance." It was the result of a search for a word or phrase that would describe a casting comparable to the finest aircraft quality forging or selected grain-oriented bar stock. Words such as "precision", "high quality", "reliable", "dependable", "consistent", "uniform", 11 trouble-free", were in themselves inadequate to properly describe a casting of this nature. The most fitting description of such a casting was "high integrity, close tolerance." The word Hictol was evolved by taking "H" from high, "I" from integrity, "C" from close and "Tol" from tolerance. Hictol - denotes a top-of-the-line product.

What it means to the buyer:

• Hictol castings are the result of the application of the best and most advanced technology available.
• It means uniform response to heat-treatment from casting to casting, within a lot, and from one lot to another, and it means tensile properties that consistently meet and exceed the specified minimum.
• It means cast material with the greatest freedom from inclusions and hard spots that might interfere with and delay machining operations.
• It means burr-free castings that can be dropped into machining fixtures without a complete incoming inspection.
• It means castings that are dimensionally in agreement with the buyer's requirements, with flatness, concentricity, and warpage within the blueprint tolerance.
• It means a manufacturing philosophy based on meeting the Customer's requirements, not on avoiding them.
