EPCO has recently expanded its capabilities in this area with the purchase of two seats of SDRC's I-DEAS Master Series Solid Modeling and Surfacing Software and one seat of I-DEAS Generative Machining running on two Silicon Graphics Indy 3-D UNIX workstations. The package allows us to accept files in 2-D and 3-D IGES, STEP, and .dxf formats directly from our customers for the creation of tooling and fixtures. We accept 4mm tape, 8mm tape and 3.5" floppy media from various computer systems. Contact us for details. The Solid Modeler is interlinked with automatic drafting systems to support concurrent computer / manual production of tools and fixtures. The Generative Machining Package allows us to rapidly produce even the most complex of toolpaths for our CNC equipment in extremely short time frames.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS

EPCO's continued efforts to improve its efficiency has led to the recent implementation of a completely integrated accounting and manufacturing system. The system is capable of processing orders from the point they are taken, through manufacturing, into shipping, and onto billing. In order to promote continuous improvement in efficiency and quality, the system tracks, in real time, all labor and material transactions to a job with associated cost information via barcoded data collection. Our Customer Service staff can find information about your order directly from their personal computer. The system also uses redundant subsystems to greatly reduce downtime. Use of integrated accounting / manufacturing systems greatly improves our responsiveness and reduces our costs, providing you with better castings at lower prices without sacrificing the flexibility of our make-to-order environment.

EPCO also provides digitized pictures of our parts on computer systems directly on the shop floor for easy reference.

EPCO is capable of handling EDI transactions. For customers who utilize electronic data interchange for the transmission of business documents, we readily provide the capability.

EPCO also provides for the barcoding of shipments per your specifications.

QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEMS

EPCO uses PC-based statistical analysis systems to analyze data obtained through control charts on the plant floor. A new initiative under construction that we call "PerfectView" will obtain information directly from various plant instruments, collate that data with information from our job tracking database, and allow for the interactive analysis of key factors in our process from a client-side PC. At EPCO, we continually strive to improve quality through technology employed by our highly-skilled employees.
